Meet the Author

Ken Conger knew he wanted to become a park ranger ever since he attended his first campfire program in Shenandoah National Park, at the age of ten. After graduating with a bachelor of science degree in wildlife management—followed by a master of science degree in administration of justice—he did just that, becoming a park ranger and then a game warden with the Virginia Department of Game & Inland Fisheries. His career in wildlife protection lasted for over thirty years, including a two-year stint as a park ranger in Alaska’s famous Denali National Park. When he’s not leading tour groups internationally, Mr. Conger presents wildlife programs, participates in art festivals, teaches wildlife photography classes, and provides private photo lessons. He shares a home with his wife in Lanexa, Virginia, where they feed birds and keep their eyes open for local wildlife while planning Mr. Conger’s next photographic journey.
Praise
“This book is a wonderful collection of beautiful and touching photographs of animal mothers and their babies. What makes this extra special is that Ken Conger, the photographer, has taken all of these photos in the wild, in the animal’s natural environment. He also relates wonderful stories that tell of the taking of each photograph. And for the camera junkies among us, he has listed the equipment and camera settings that were used for each photo. This can be found at the end of the book, so the technical information does not take away from the experience of reading the text and viewing the photos. A must have for any animal lover!” – Amazon Customer
“Great book. Not only are the photographs great, but Ken includes commentary for each photo. If you ever get the opportunity to attend one of his seminars, you will learn what a wonderful story teller he is, not only with his words, but the images he captures. Highly recommend this book.” – L. Robinson
