Endorsements

“A sweet and timely story that will help youngsters appreciate our forests and their
residents.”
– Sean B. Carroll, biologist and author of The Serengeti Rules

“The adorable Fuzzy and Buzzy are the perfect companions for literature based science
adventures. Their story captivated my first graders while engaging them in rich content
connected to our curriculum. We can’t wait for our next adventure!
– Stacy Wolfe, elementary school teacher

“Told from the perspective of loveable woodland creatures, this is a tale of how human
choices impact our non-human neighbors. This timely story will start important
conversations with young readers about deforestation and habitat fragmentation, with
solutions that will inspire action and hope for a brighter future.”
– Cathryn Pugh, forestry educator, Penn State Extension

“It’s on to the next adventure for Fuzzy and Buzzy! This time, they have a new friend to
help: Speedy the Squirrel. Speedy feels like he’s going “nuts” when he can’t find his
special tree. What is poor speedy to do? Lucky for him, Fuzzy and Buzzy are there to
help any creature in need!
Once again, this duo knows that teamwork, kindness, and friendship can solve any
problem. And so can you!
In the second installment of Fuzzy and Buzzy, author Josh Brandstadter gets young
readers excited to take care of the environment. Not only does he bring these fun loving
and relatable characters to life, but also offers his audience ways they can help.”
– Ashley Kelley, elementary school teacher

“What a wonderful book for parents and teachers to read to children. I was first
impressed by how the author hooked me on a fun and entertaining story describing the
interactions between very different animals who share a tiny forest patch and their
adaptations to a shrinking habitat—a diminishing place to live. But what really added
value for me was his transition from the lessons learned by animals trying to share this
tiny forest patch to the broader issues for all of us sharing a planet and what we can do
to make the future brighter.”
– Dr. Gary Alt, terrestrial curriculum coordinator for The Wildlife Leadership Academy
and former wildlife research biologist for the Pennsylvania Game
Commission

“The Adventures of Fuzzy and Buzzy is a delightful tale that introduces children to the
importance of saving and maintaining one of Earth’s important natural resources: forests.
Mr. Brandstadter uses rich language to engage his reader in an exciting adventure. In
addition to teaching children about deforestation, this story uses a variety of writing
techniques that allows the reader to visualize the events that occur throughout the story.”
– Mr. Christopher Young, elementary school principal
