We Welcome Your Submission

We accept unsolicited submissions and simultaneous submissions from published and unpublished authors. An agent is not required!

We are pleased to review submissions in most subject areas and genres, but are especially interested in manuscripts (in almost any genre) that teach, promote, and encourage understanding, tolerance, and peace; seek to improve the lives of people and communities in the U.S. and around the globe; promote environmental preservation; and promote and teach health and wellness.

In addition to the ideals above, we look for quality writing (of course!) as well as a compelling story or message. We also look for a strong author marketing plan. An author’s promotional efforts have a huge impact on sales, so we want to know that you’ve thought about how to market your book and are eager to do so. If you’re not interested in marketing your work, however, we may still offer publication under the Belle Isle Books imprint.

Our Review Process

We review every manuscript we receive in full, on a first come, first served basis. Depending on our submission load, this process can take 3 months or longer, so we ask authors to be patient. Once your manuscript has passed through our evaluation process, we’ll contact you with our decision.

How to Submit

In our effort to preserve paper and improve efficiency, we no longer accept hardcopy submissions. We ask that you email your entire manuscript as a Microsoft Word (doc or docx) attachment. Please adhere to the following guidelines:

  • Your manuscript should be paginated, and your entire manuscript should be included in a single Word file (not sent with chapters in individual files).
  • We recommend that you set your type in 12 point Times New Roman, double-spaced.
  • Do not email manuscripts that contain heavy graphics, photographs, or illustrations unless your entire file size, including the text, is less than 10 MG.  If we have further interest in your work, we will ask you to send photos or illustrations via another method.

Include the following with your submission:

  • One-page summary/synopsis of your book. What is your book about?
  • A brief author biography.  Tell us a little about yourself.
  • Profile of your audience and your specific marketing and promotional plans.   Who will buy your book, and why? (To be considered for traditional publication and/or for publication under the Brandylane imprint, you must submit a strong marketing/promotional plan.)

To send us your work, click submit below. We do not return hardcopy materials.

Once you submit your manuscript, you will receive an email from us telling you that we’ve received it and have added it to our reading queue. Our process isn’t automated and we field many submissions, so we may not reply immediately; if you don’t hear from us within two weeks, please contact us by email or phone to confirm that we’ve received your submission.

If you have questions about our publishing program or submission requirements, contact the publisher by phone at 804.644.3090 or by email.
